Have fitted an 8 channel DVR system with 5 cameras to a large community building. Camera 4 and 5 have given no trouble, but the picture on cameras 1 to 3 has a tendancy to go off for w hile during the night, but when looked at in the morning, have turned themselves back on again.

Due to the long distance between these cameras and the DVR, we have used Kat 5 cabling and baluns instead of the usual cabling. We do not think that the cameras are faulty, and any minor changes that could be done to try and fix the problem have also been carried out.

Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

IR cameras require more power at night, to light up the LEDs. It may be that you are using too weak of a power supply, or that you are trying to run power too far via CAT 5
